The word ´travel´ evokes many images, from grand vistas such as stark white Antarctica or the vast Amazon rain forest to perilous expeditions into the unknown. Here, however, the author has chosen to select incidents, encounters or special places: vignettes and cameos that remain in the memory long after the journey has been completed.
